As a road warrior I am used to grabbing dinner on the run and have had enough burgers, fries and milkshakes to last me a lifetime so when I had the chance to coordinate a dinner for my team this week in Chicago I couldn’t wait. We ended up at Eddie V’s at the The Shops at North Bridge after reading glowing reviews on Yelp and once I push publish on this post I will be adding my own commendation to their list of rave reviews.
Simply put, my experience at Eddie V’s in Chicago was Love at First Bite.
I ordered the Halibut Filet which was sautéed with corn, morels, edamame and smoked pork. This was hands down the BEST fish dish I have ever eaten. The halibut was so fresh and delicate that it melted in my mouth. The sauce was equally to die for and was a perfect balance of salty and sweet. I didn’t want to finish the last bite because I didn’t want this delicious dining experience to end…but eventually I did because I just couldn’t resist 🙂
The picture I took (obviously the one on the left) didn’t do this incredible dish justice so I had to include a picture from their site.
For my side dishes I had sauteed broccolini and ready for this, crab fried rice. Yes, I’ve never heard of it either and yes, it was absolutely delicious. After my first bite I quickly realized why this is such a fan favorite. Unlike most fried rice dishes it wasn’t overly salty and they were very generous with the amount of crab they included for a side dish. A few bites had a little spicy kick to them which was a nice touch.
Again, my picture didn’t do it justice by any means as it was too dark to take a good picture but here is a look at it from their site.
We finished up dinner with a dessert for the table. We decided to go with the Bananas Foster which was flambéed tableside! At this point in the meal I was honestly too stuffed to take another bite but from the smell and the delight on my colleagues face I could tell it was a hit.
And while I was clearly wowed by the meal that Eddie V’s provided I was even more impressed with their service. Our waiter, Josh W, was simply fantastic. He was energetic, entertaining, courteous and bent over backwards to be accommodating to our large party. I can not say enough nice things about this young man and can’t wait to return to Eddie V’s to say thank you again for such a wonderful experience.
If you are one of the 3,000 Coldwell Banker real agent agents making the trip to the Gen Blue Experience in Chicago in September make sure you add Eddie V’s to your list of places to eat.
