A (Kind Of) Romantic Getaway to Cabo San Lucas

The sun is hot, the drinks are cold and the beaches are beautiful. That’s right, I’m talking about heading down South to Mexico. Thinking of vacationing in Cabo San Lucas? Here are some travel tips from our kind of awesome and kind of terrible (you’ll understand soon enough) experience.

Our Hotel in Los Cabos

We stayed at The Grand Mayan.

The front desk staff was incredibly kind to us once they heard it was our anniversary. In fact, when we got to our room we were surprised and delighted to learn they had upgraded us to a beautiful suite! Here is a look at our room… roomDespite having a great room we ended up spending a ton of time on our balcony. With our own private plunge pool and a view like this can you blame us?

The Best Gift I Ever Gave My Husband

Never pass a chance to say I love you to the people you care about, because we aren’t promised tomorrow.

bookI was recently chatting with a friend about what makes a great marriage. To me, it’s not about the highest highs, which are of course great, but rather the consistency of being with someone you know you can count on, who you know will always be loyal and who genuinely makes each day of your life better because they are part of it. Make Up Treasures Discovered in Hollywood

makeupI am the first to admit I have a lot to learn when it comes to applying make up. Seriously, every time I am able to draw a straight line with liquid eyeliner I consider it a victory. When I have the chance to get my make up done by a professional I pay close attention to the brands they use, their application techniques and ask a ton of questions. (I’m sure they love that)

While I was in LA earlier this year for our Homes for Dogs project and the Academy Awards I was thrilled and spoiled to have my hair and make up done by Felicia,

felishaFelicia told us about a few of her favorite products that are truly gold. The four that stood out included: Read more

Aureole: A Romantic Gem in the Heart of NYC

In the heart of New York City, at One Bryant Park, is an intimate and elegant dining experience that I am so happy my husband discovered. While searching for the city’s most romantic restaurants Joe found Aureole and was impressed to find that in the past ten years they have been awarded with ten Michelin Stars as well as being name to the Foodie Top 100 list.  After our incredible experience I can certainly understand why they have received so much praise. Here is a recap of our night.

lobster amuse bouche served in egg shellAmuse Bouche

This picture simply doesn’t do this delicious little creation any justice but it was fantastic in every sense of the word. The presentation of this amuse bouche in a delicately cracked eggshell was creative and sophisticated. Inside was a rich butter poached Maine lobster with egg custard topped with white sturgeon caviar. We were both left wanting more but knew we were in for a truly delightful meal after tasting this first treat. Read more

Tasty Turkey Veggie Meatballs

After my husband got a hand written note from the doctor a few years ago telling him his cholesterol was too high (hereditary) we decided to trade in red meat for more chicken, turkey, fish and beans. One of the things I have missed the most is a good meatball. It’s hard to swap turkey for beef, especially when you are spoiled by your nonna with authentic Italian meatballs that are to D I E for.

Today I tried out Jessica Alba’s recipe which is the best turkey meatball recipe I have tried so far in my quest for finding a healthier option for us.

Whiskey Salmon over Arugula

My husband and I very rarely have a drink during the week, at the most maybe a glass of wine or a beer. So when I walked into the kitchen after work last week and saw a bottle of Jameson on the counter I was a little confused. I was happy to see that it wasn’t because he had a bad day but rather he was surprising with me a healthy dinner.

Meerkat & Periscope: Lifestreaming Is Here to Stay

Untitled design (20)

Social live streaming is the hottest trend right now as Meerkat and Periscope battle it out for the top spot in this incredibly popular user generated broadcasting space.

I find the whole concept of live streaming our lives, aka “lifestreaming,” absolutely fascinating.

Give someone a smart phone and they have the opportunity to become reporters with a choice. They can choose to share intimate details of their life by sharing something like their child’s first steps or vacation. Or conversely, they can make the choice to take on the role of world reporter by broadcasting major news events like a riot or storm. With the emergence of Meerkat and Perscope, the opportunities to report and they way we do so are only getting more interesting.

First things first. What is the difference between Meerkat and Periscope?
